HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 8 (acn) As visitor, the young Cuban soccer team will face Panama today, at Rommel Fernandez Stadium, in search of a ticket for the Centennial Copa America, to be held this year in various US cities.
This will be the second match of the day in the same venue, as in early hours Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will also fight for a ticket to the aforementioned South American contest, which this time will include teams from the CONCACAF area.
The Cuban team, coached by Raul Gonzalez Triana, can count today with four of its young talents currently enrolled in the preseason of Mexican clubs Cruz Azul and Santos Laguna, who could not attend the tour to Central America last December.
In this tour, Triana´s pupils lost two games against the national team of Nicaragua, while they drew one and lost another match against Honduras. Their goal average was of two goals for and 10 against and if that goal drought persists, little or nothing can be done today against Panama, which has much raised its soccer recently.
Cuba's line up today could be with the goalkeeper Sandy Sanchez, while Jorge Luis Clavelo, Abel Martinez, Hanier Dranguet and Yosel Piedra could be the defenders.
Daniel Luis Sáez, Yolexis Collado, Carlos Domingo and Alberto Gomez should be in midfield, while Maykel Reyes and Arichel Hernandez would be the forwards.
