HAVANA, Cuba, Dec. 10 (acn) The Cuban Baseball Federation announced that a delegation composed of representatives of the U.S. majors and the U.S. Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) will arrive in this capital on December 15.
The visiting group includes athletes and specialists, led by Joe Torre, director of sports operations of the top U.S. baseball circuit, and former player Dave Winfield, union advisor, according to the Jit Web site.
Details of the program and objectives of the visit will be dealt with on Tuesday, at a press conference scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Vedado Hall of the Hotel Nacional in Havana.
This will be the most important visit of a delegation of U.S. Major League since 1999, when the Baltimore Orioles team traveled to the Cuban capital for a friendly game against the island's national team.
