Cubans open participation in Grand Prix of Judo in China

Cubans open participation in Grand Prix of Judo in ChinaHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (acn) Cuban women Dayaris Mestre and Aliuska Ojeda will compete today in the first day of the Grand Prix of Qindao, China, contest that grant s points for the world ranking towards the 2016 Summer Olympics.

According to the website of the tournament, Mestre, 48 kilograms, and Ojeda (57) will face the hosts Yanyan Li and Yuanyuan Lin, respectively.
The also Cuban woman Maricet Espinosa (63) and the men Magdiel Estrada (73) and Ivan Silva (81) will debut on Saturday.
Espinosa, Estrada and Silva will fight against Austrian Hilde Drexler, Uzbek Mirali Sharipov and Terence Kouamba, from Gabon, in that order.
Meanwhile, Yalennis Castillo (78), Idalis Ortiz (+78), Asley Gonzalez (90), Jose Armenteros (100) and Alex Garcia ( +100) will debut on Sunday, closing date of the tourney.
The organizers announced the event is attended by 379 judokas -237 women and 142 men- from 59 countries.
The Asian tour of the Cuban squad includes South Korea , home of a Grand Prix, from November 26 to 28, and Japan, which will host a Grand Slam, from December 6 to 8.
