HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (acn) The Cuban U-17 women's squad will debut today against Bermuda in match of group A in the grand final of the Caribbean Football Union, based in Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
The contest involves eight teams divided into two groups. Poole A includes, along with Cuba and Bermuda, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, while Group B is made up by Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Barbados and the Dominican Republic .
The two teams reaching the discussion of the title will advance to the CONCACAF finals, based in Granada, where eight teams will compete in search of three tickets for the World Championship of the category, to be held next year in Jordan.
Last month, the Cuban side played two friendly matches against Costa Rica, at Pedro Marrero stadium, and left a pleasant image despite drawing 2-2 the first game and losing 0-1 the last one.
It is expected coach Constantino Valdés to repeat the line-up he used against Costa Ricans, so Liameuris Hernandez would be the goalkeeper, defenders would be Wendy Corcho, Melissa Cerda, Yamitsleidy Nunez and Maria Alvarez.
Meanwhile, midfielders will be Sairy Cid, Claudia Prats (captain), Yenifer Ramos and Leyda Chirino, while Maritania Mengana and Lilian Perez would be the forwards.
