HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 23 (acn) The Cuban U 23 soccer team, which won the bronze medal at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, will held today a friendly match against Nicaragua's senior squad at Pedro Marrero Stadium.
Both sides will have another match on Friday in the same place, but behind closed doors because Nicaraguans must return to Managua in the afternoon.
These are the only two matchups that will held the squad coached by Raul Gonzalez Triana towards the final tournament of CONCACAF, to be held from October 1 to 13 in the United States , seeking for tickets to the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The visitors, coached by Costa Rican Henry Duarte, appeared 151st in the FIFA world ranking and most of their players belong to the club Real Esteli of their local league .
I do not think this Central American team is a good meter for Cuba, which appears in group A of the pre-Olympic tournament along with Canada, Panama and the United States.
Today, those attending the Pedro Marrero stadium can see in action very talented young players such as the goalkeeper Sandy Sanchez, defender Arturo Diz Pe, attacking midfielder Arichel Hernandez and striker Maykel Reyes, among others, who are also part of the Cuba senior squad.
