Cuban freestyle wrestlers compete today in Las Vegas

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 11 (acn) Freestyle wrestlers Reineris Salas and Javier Cortina will seek to increase the medal harvest of Cuba at the World Wrestling Championship, which finishes tomorrow in Las Vegas, United States.

Salas, 86 kg, double silver medalist at world tournaments and champion in the Pan American Games in Toronto in late July, will bring out all his mastery on the mattress to be included again in the awards podium.
In the case of Cortina (97), who won the bronze medal in Tashkent last year, he will try to remain among the best in his division and thus earning a ticket to the 2016 Summer Olympics.
This universal contest has the added importance of granting five berths in each division to the event on Brazilian soil.
So far, the Cuban delegation has two medals in the demanding tournament in Las Vegas, with the title won by Ismael Borrero (59), and the silver medal achieved by Mijain Lopez (130), both in Greco-Roman style.
Yesterday, at the start of the free-style event, the three representatives of the Caribbean island, Katherine Vidiaux (63), Lisset Echevarria (75) and Franklin Marén (65), were eliminated.
