Cuban Bermoy goes for title at World Judo ChampionshipsHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 25 (acn) Yanet Bermoy appears as the main trump card for Cuba today in the second day of the World Judo Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, which is attended by 729 judokas -432 men and 297 women- from 120 countries.

Bermoy (52 kg), London 2012 Olympic silver medalist and fifth of the world in Chelyabinsk 2014, will debut against North Korean Song Sim Rim.

The also world silver medalist in Rio de Janeiro 2013, but in the 48 kilos, will have as opponent to the owner of the bronze medal in the Asian championship.

Carlos Tondique (66), who will face South Korean Baul An, will also compete for Cuba today.

On Monday , Yandry Torres (60) and Dayaris Mestre (48) both lost in their second bouts.

Kazakhstan leads the standings with a gold and a silver medal, followed by Argentina (1-0-0), Japan (0-1-2) and South Korea (0-0-2), in that order.
