Cuba Beats Curacao in Rotterdam Baseball Tournament

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 23 (acn) Cuba beat Curacao 11-7 and achieved its third win in the traditional baseball tournament of the Dutch city of Rotterdam.

The Cuban team was losing 7-3 in the top of the eighth inning when the players coached by Victor Mesa managed to score five times and added three more runs in the ninth to secure victory.
The winner was right-hander Danny Aguilera, who allowed two hits and one earned run in three innings and two thirds, while Evenon Martis took the loss.
Lourdes Y. Gourriel stood out in the Cuban team's offensive, when hitting 3 for 5 with a double and three runs scored, along with third baseman Yurisbel Gracial, 2 for 5 with three RBIs, and catcher Osvaldo Vazquez, 1 for 4 with two RBIs.
The Cuban squad appears second in the Rotterdam baseball tournament with a 3-1 balance and will face on Thursday the host team of Holland, which remains unbeaten (4-0), after defeating Japan 2-1 yesterday.
