HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 23 (acn) Five Cuban boxers will seek on Thursday their inclusion as finalists of the 17th Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada.
Yosbany Veitia, in the 52-kilogram division, Lazaro Alvarez (60), Roniel Iglesias (69), Julio Cesar La Cruz (81) and Lenier Pero (+91) will be on the ring looking for their tickets to the finals.
In athletics, there will also be a discussion of medals in the men's 400 meter hurdles, women's pole vault, men's 800-meter dash, men's discus throw, men's and women's 400 meter dash, women's 10,000-meters and the conclusion of the decathlon competition.
Cuba will also be involved in women's saber by teams, in fencing, as well as in the table tennis individual event in both sexes.
Meanwhile, in team sports, the Cuban men's field hockey team will face Mexico in a game for positions fifth to eighth, as well as in volleyball both for men and women.
There will also be actions in softball, a sport in which the women's squad will face Brazil in the qualifying round.
