HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 16 (acn) The Cuban men's team defeated 13-6 Ecuador, and finished seventh in the water polo tournament of the 17th Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.
Cuba's best scorer was Giraldo Carales with five goals, and was supported by José Peralta and Ivey Arroyo, both with three.
Previously, the Caribbean squad beat 10-3 Ecuador and tied with Argentina (7-7), but lost 4-21 and 8-9 with the United States and Venezuela, respectively.
Meanwhile, the women's team finished fourth after losing 6-9 to Brazil, on a day when the United States beat 13-4 Canada in the final.
The Cubans defeated Argentina (10-3) and Mexico (11-9), and they lost to the United States (3-18) and Canada (7-14).
