TORONTO, Canada, Jul 9 (acn) Under the sun that shone brightly to stoke nostalgia for our country, the Cuban flag was hoisted at the Pan-American Villa, converted into "hotbed" of efforts, aspirations of triumph and fellowship.
The Cuban delegation, headed by Antonio Becali, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, sang the national anthem, while the flag was raised to the top of the mast, in a ceremony that gave the official welcome to the enclosure.
In an act shared with its counterparts of Bahamas and Colombia, the athletic embassy fully enjoyed the symbolism of the moment.
Earlier, emotion took over the appointment when the Cuban-Canadian Gabriela Gonzalez welcomed the delegation from her position as ambassador of the Youth Council and member of the organizing committee.
Prior to Cuba, Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, El Salvador, Panama, Chile, Honduras and Peru also hoisted their flags
