HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 26 (acn) The Cuban U-23 soccer team will face Aruba on Friday, in the second round of the Olympic qualifying tournament of the Caribbean region, in a game scheduled for the Antigua Recreation Ground, in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda.
In their debut, the pupils of Coach Raul Gonzalez beat Guyana 2-0, with goals by Frank Lopez and Dayron Perez during the 7th and 41st minutes, respectively, while Aruba lost 7-0 against locals.
The winner of this group will face the leader of Group 3, in which only Jamaica, St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic will compete, after the withdrawal of Curacao.
Competing in this phase of the Caribbean region will be four groups, and the winners of each group will play against each other on August 14 for two tickets for the CONCACAF Pre-Olympic qualifying tournament, slated for October in the U.S.A .
It is expected that Triana repeats the line-up with which he beat Guyana, which included goalkeeper Elier Pozo and defenders Brian Rosales, Abel Colon, David Urgellés and Arturo Diz Pe, while Yoisel Piedra, Daniel Luis Sáez, Frank Lopez and Arichel Hernandez would be the midfielders and Dayron Perez and Maykel Reyes will have the mission of scoring the goals.
