HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 17 (acn) Argentina and Paraguay appear today with great possibilities of advancing to the quarterfinals for Group B of the Chile 2015 Copa America by beating Uruguay and Jamaica respectively.
La Portada stadium, in the Chilean city of La Serena, hosted the crucial classic match of La Plata River, in which Argentina defeated Uruguay 1-0 with goal scored by striker Sergio Aguero in the 56th minute.
The current monarchs of the continental competition had several chances to equalize the score in a game of great physical strength, but goalkeeper Sergio Romero seemed being insurmountable to establish himself as the other hero of the match for the cause of the winners.
After successfully overcome this demanding test, the current world runners up now own four points and share the top of Group B with Paraguayans, who beat Jamaica 1-0 at Regional Calvo y Bascuñán Stadium, in Antofagasta, thanks to a goal scored by Edgar Benitez (37´).
Uruguay now appears third in this group with three points and will define its destiny at the competition on Saturday against Paraguay, while Argentina will face Jamaica in the last game of this poole.
Today Brazil will face Colombia in Santiago de Chile, while Peru will clash with Venezuela in Valparaiso in matches corresponding to group C of this continental contest.
