Cuba harvests two titles in judo Grand PrixHAVANA, Cuba, June 15 (acn) Cuba ended its performance in the Budapest Judo Grand Prix, in Hungary, with two bronze medals through Asley Gonzalez, 90 kilograms, and Idalis Ortiz (+78 kilos).

According to the website of the event, Gonzalez climbed to the podium by defeating by Wazari Estonian Milan Randa, to achieve his fourth victory with one loss, while Ortiz (3-1) won by penalty over Gulzhan Issanova, from Kazakhstan.

Gonzalez, London 2012 Olympic silver medalist and world champion in Rio de Janeiro 2013, only lost to Portuguese Celio Dias.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Kayra Sayit was the only one who managed to beat Ortiz, Olympic monarch of London 2012 and world champion in Rio de Janeiro 2013 and Chelyabinsk 2014.

Cuba's other best results were achieved by women Dayaris Mestre (48) and Onix Cortés (70), who finished fifth and seventh respectively and Magdiel Estrada (73), who finished seventh among men.

Kazakhstan, with two gold and one silver medals, topped the standings, followed by Germany (1-5-5) and Slovenia (1-2-0), while the Caribbean island finished 19th (0-0-2).

The Budapest Grand Prix, attended by 411 judokas -263 men and 148 women- from 67 nations, granted points for the world ranking, list that also grants tickets for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
