Cuba to face Argentina in World Volleyball LeagueHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 12 (acn) Cuba and Argentina will face each other today in the first of two matches of this weekend in group C of the second level of the World Volleyball League, based in the Sports City Coliseum, in this city.

Argentine and Cuban won one game each in their first two matches, in the city of Mendoza, where the hosts won 3-0 and then lost 2-3.

The outside hitter and captain Rolando Cepeda leads the Cuban starting line-up, which also includes the central blockers Livan Osoria and Dariel Albo, inside hitters Javier Ernesto Jimenez and Osmany Uriarte and the setter Ricardo Calvo, with Yonder Garcia playing as libero.

Rodolfo Sanchez, Cuban head coach, said that to achieve a good result, it will be very important the performance of Cepeda, Uriarte and Jimenez, who must score around 15 points each.

About Jimenez, who served a contract period at the Greek Professional League, Sanchez said he is very anxious after joining the squad.

The Caribbean team appears fourth and last of its poole with two points as, in addition to the aforementioned results in Argentina, they were also beaten away by Canada (1-3 and 1-3) and Bulgaria (1-3 and 1-3).

Canada leads the group with 14 points in four games, followed by Bulgaria (8) in the same amount of matches, Argentina (6) in six, and Cuba (2) also in six matches.
