Cuba makes it to the finals in Handball Pan American championship

HAVANA, Cuba, May 28 (acn) The Cuban women's handball team beat 32-26 Puerto Rico earning thus a place in the final of the Pan American Championships of the sport, under ways in this city.

Glennis Reyes and Lisandra Lussón were the most outstanding local players by scoring seven goals each.

Reyes, top scorer in the tournament with 44 goals in the qualifying stage, told reporters she is satisfied with her contribution to the Cuban team and emphasized the importance of teamwork to get that result.

The Kid Chocolate multipurpose room will host the final today at 7 pm where Cuba will face Brazil, current world champion who defeated 26-15 Argentina in the first semi-final match.

Both Brazilians and Cubans remain unbeaten in six outings to the court, so a hard-fought and interesting match is expected.

In the history of the Pan American Handball Championships, the Brazilians are the highest winners with eight crowns, while Cuba has earned a silver and a bronze medal.
