U.S. Fishermen Attend Havana's Hemingway Tournament

U.S. Fishermen Attend Havana's Hemingway TournamentHAVANA, Cuba, May 26 (acn) The Commodore of the Hemingway International Yacht Club, Jose Miguel Diaz, told the press on Monday that the first group of U.S. competitors to participate in the 65th edition of the Ernest Hemingway International Marlin Fishing Tournament was already on the island.

Participants include John and Patrick Hemingway, grandsons of the famed U.S. Nobel Prize Literature winner (The Old Man and the Sea, 1954).
With the traditional Captains Meeting, the competition began on Monday, and will run until February 30 in the capital's Marina Residential.
In previous statements, the Commodore asserted that they have received dozens of letters from around the world to participate in the tournament and especially from members of the U.S. nautical community, adding that, if allowed by their government, the number of participants will exceed the one registered in 1979 (80 boats) and 1999 (50).
