Cuban team opens with victory in Pan American championship of handball

HAVANA, Cuba, May 22 (acn) The Cuban women's handball team debuted with a tight win (24-23) over Argentina in the Pan American Championships to be hosted by this city until May 28.

To succeed, the Cuban side relied on the speed on the court of its players, several lethal counterattacks, plus the offensive contribution of Eyanne Rizo, who scored 8 goals.

It is also worth mentioning the work of a very organized defense and the key performance of the Cuban goalkeeper to overcome the resistance of Argentina, runners-up of the continental competition in Guadalajara 2011.

Now the team of the Caribbean nation leads Group B along with Uruguay, which beat Chile 29-27.
