HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 30 (acn) Ciego de Avila took the lead in the semifinal round of the Cuban baseball with record of two wins and one loss, by beating 6-0 Granma.
The ace pitcher Ismel Jimenez limited to the minimum expression Granma´s powerful line-up by allowing only three hits over nine innings, while Irvin del Río took the loss.
The Ciego de Avila Tigers opened the score in the first inning when first baseman Ariel Borrero drove in José Adolis Garcia, and added another run in the fourth driven in by catcher Osvaldo Vázquez.
In the fifth inning those coached by Roger Machado produced four more runs product of back-to-back homers by Borrero and Yoelvis Fiss and after an out Vazquez joined the party with another solo homer to put final figures to the score.
