PARIS, Jul 30 (ACN) The Cuban beach volleyball duo Noslen Diaz - Jorge Luis Alayo won today two sets to zero against the strong Brazilian duo, in their second presentation at the Olympic Games, to be held in this city until August 11.
In the main court, located near the Eiffel Tower, they dominated without setbacks the first set 21-13 by force of attacks and effectiveness in the blocks, against the couple Andre Loyola-George Souto in the continuation of the preliminaries of group D.
The Caribbean had the advantage in the first set almost all the time, contrary to the second set, which was closer and in which they had to “throw in” spikes and blocks to close the scoreboard 21-18.
This was expected to be a complicated match for the silver medalists in the Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, taking into account that the South Americans are ranked second in the world ranking of the sport; but they only needed 37 minutes to win.
On Saturday, Diaz and Alayo dominated two sets to zero against the U.S. Andrew Benesh and Miles Partain, in Cuba's debut in beach volleyball in the summer competition.
On August 1, they are scheduled to face the Moroccan pair Mohammed Abicha- Zouheir Elgraoui, also members of Group D.
