HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 1 (ACN) The freestyle wrestlers, among them five Cubans, will be in action today in the final day of the Olympic Wrestling Qualifiers of the Americas, to be held in Acapulco, Mexico.
Cuba will be represented by Alejandro Valdes in the 65 kilograms (kg), Franklin Maren (74 kg), Yurieski Torreblanca (86 kg), Arturo Silot (97 kg) and Ibrain Torres (125 kg).
All of them will fight with the aim of securing one of the two tickets granted in each of the divisions to the summer event to be held in Paris, July 26 to August 11 of this year.
Of these five wrestlers, Valdes and Torreblanca won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023, while Maren and Silot were silver winners.
Cuba's Greco-Roman wrestlers had already won three tickets to Paris in the aforementioned universal competition, where they won two gold medals thanks to Luis Orta (67 kg) and Gabriel Rosillo (97 kg), and a bronze medal for Oscar Pino (130 kg).
