HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 27 (ACN) Greco-Roman wrestlers will be the first to take part in the Olympic Wrestling Qualifiers of the Americas, to be held in Acapulco, February 28 to March 1.
Cuba will be represented by Kevin de Armas (60 kg), Yosvanys Peña (77 kg) and Daniel Gregorich (87 kg), in addition to six men and five women in the free style.
In this event, Cuban freestyle competitors are Osmany Diversent (57 kg), Alejandro Valdes (65 kg), Franklin Maren (74 kg), Yurieski Torreblanca (86 kg), Arturo Silot (97 kg) and Ibrain Torres (125 kg).
While women are Yusneylis Guzman (50 kg), Laura Herin (53 kg), Angela Alvarez (57 kg), Maria Santana (62 kg) and Brenda Sterling (68 kg).
That tournament will give tickets to the first two places in each of the divisions to the Olympic Games in Paris.
So far, the Caribbean nation has secured three tickets to the Olympic Games, which were obtained at the World Wrestling Championship held in Belgrade, last September, for Luis Orta, Gabriel Rosillo and Oscar Pino.
Among the women, Milaimy Marin obtained the ticket in the 76 kg with her fifth place in the universal competition last year in Serbia.
