Cubans Yeniuska and Olfides today at the Pan American Weightlifting Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 27 (ACN) Cubans Yeniuska Mirabal, in the 71 kilograms (kg), and Olfides Saez (89 kg) will compete today in the continuation of the Pan American Weightlifting Championship, pre-Olympic that will conclude on the 29th in the Venezuelan state of Miranda.

With stage at the Jose Joaquin Papa Carrillo gymnasium, they will close Tuesday the presence of Cuba in the pre-Olympic competition in view of the Paris 2024 Games, since on Sunday Arley Calderon (67 kg) competed.

Calderon, who finished sixth in the 266 kg biathlon, after a start of 118 kg and a rebound of 148 kg, did not compete in his usual division, the 61 kg, as it was known before leaving for Venezuela, he had some chances of medals in the Pan American, and for tactical issues of the national commission it was decided that he would do it in the 67 kg.

The Venezuelan continental competition will be the penultimate one that will score for the world ranking that gives direct tickets to Paris 2024 to the first 10 weightlifters of each division for their biathlon, that is to say, the sum of the start and rebound.

The International Federation has already announced that the last pre-Olympic tournament will be held March 31 to April 11 in Phuket, Thailand, where Cuba expects to attend with a larger team.
