MATANZAS, Cuba, Jan 30 (ACN) Venezuelan José Tello sent nine balls beyond the fences of the local stadium to win the home run derby of the four-team All-Star Baseball Series held in this city.
Tello beat both his teammate Juan Carlos Torres and Cuban slugger Yordanis Samón, who notched up eight homers each.
“After the game against Mexico I was a bit tired, but I was eager to participate,” the well-built hitter from Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, who stressed that the ball used in this tournament (Teammate 190) bounces very well, told journalists.
“If this All-Star Series is organized again next year, I hope to be here to defend my title,” said Tello, who plays the summer league with the Marineros de Carabobo and the winter league with the Navegantes de Magallanes.
