HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 15 (ACN) Cuban beach volleyball duo Jorge Luis Alayo-Noslen Diaz appear with good chances of getting the quota for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a multisport event to be held July 26 to August 11.
Alayo and Diaz have still two possibilities: through the Olympic ranking or in the Norceca continental tournament, in which they appear as favorites to triumph, ratified today the Cuban News Agency.
Cubans closed 2023 with a 17th place in the world championship, silver and bronze medals in the Pan American Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games, respectively, and several medals in the Norceca circuit (4-0-3).
The holders (m and f) of the world championship in Tlaxcala 2023, in Mexico, won the first Olympic places, in a final list formed by the 24 (m and f).
According to the classification system, by the ranking of the International Volleyball Federation will be the top 17 places (m and f).
The relationship will take into account the 12 best participations of the pairs from January 1, 2023 to June 10, 2024, in the 2023 world competition, the pro tour (world circuit) in its elite, challenger and future levels, and the finals of the continental circuits that are recognized.
According to the announced program, the phases of the Norceca 2024 circuit will include the Aguascalientes tournament, March 14-17, Varadero (March 28-31), La Paz, Mexico (April 18-21), Cayman Islands (May 16-19), Punta Cana (June 6-9) and Hato Mayor (June 13-16) in the Dominican Republic, and Managua, Nicaragua (July 4-7).
It is completed with stops in the Dominican Republic's Punta Cana (Aug. 22-25) and Puerto Plata (Aug. 28-Sept. 1), Jamaica (Sept. 19-22), Cayman Islands (Oct. 10-13) and Guatemala (Oct. 24-27), but after the Paris lid.
