Cuba U-20 Soccer Team to Play against Canada

Cuba U-20 Soccer Team to Play against CanadaHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 19 (acn) The Cuban U-20 soccer team is forced to beat Canada today in the group B match of the CONCACAF world cup qualifying tournament, based in Kingston, Jamaica.

This is because, after three games, the pupils of Coach William Bennet have only earned one point, obtained thanks to a 2-2 draw in their last outing against Haiti.

The Cubans were previously defeated by Mexico (1-9) and Honduras (0-3). Thus, they cannot lose or draw against Canadians and El Salvador, their last opponent in the knockout stage, on January 22nd. For you to have an idea of the precarious situation the Cuban players are facing, it suffices to mention that they are on the bottom of the standings in group B, which is led by Mexico, with nine points, followed by El Salvador (5), Honduras (4), Canada (3) and Haiti (2).

This tournament in Jamaica, which is attended by 12 teams, will grant four seats for the World Cup this year in New Zealand. The leaders of each poole will get the direct ticket, while the second and third places will fight for the two remaining berths in the semifinals.
