HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) A victory over the Macedonian Stojan Velkoski gave Cuba’s 2022 national champion Alain Otero a second point and placed him 49th in the ranking of the World Youth Chess Championship, an 11-round Swiss tournament held in Montesilvano, Italy.
Otero, one of the 134 players competing in this U-18 event, had beaten Thailand's Sirawich Kusakulpiboon and lost to Russia's Konstantin Popov.
His next contender will be the Azerbaijani Shiroghlan Talibov, who has also scored twice and boasts an ELO of 2,363 points.
