HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 9 (ACN) The goal of the Cuban team is to win the title at the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, said Juan Reinaldo Perez Pardo, president of the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB).

According to what the federation president told the press, he is not worried about some absences of well-known players such as pitchers Raidel Martinez and Livan Moinelo, as well as Yadir Drake, Ariel Martinez and Alfredo Despaigne, some of them due to injuries.

Franklin Quintana and Osday Silva, who left the delegation in Puerto Rico, where Cuba has just won the 5th Caribbean Cup, will also be absent.

Perez Pardo also informed that the 24 players selection, whose main premise will be versatility, should be announced between the next 11 and 13.

The FCB president affirmed that after the arrival from Puerto Rico, training will resume at the Latin American Stadium in Havana, with the incorporation of players such as Erly Casanova, Frank Abel Alvarez and Raul Gonzalez.

Cuba's qualifying group will include Colombia -first opponent on the 20th-, Venezuela and Brazil.
