HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 14 (ACN) Cuba will have three athletes in the finals of the 2023 Wanda Diamond League in Eugene, United States, on September 16 and 17.
They are the triple jumpers Leyanis Perez—third in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest—and Liadagmis Povea, who was sixth in the said event and fifth in the 2020 Olympic Games.
The third Cuban who will be in the final is the high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas, champion of the 2019 Pan American Games, who was fifth and sixth, respectively, in the world athletics championships of Doha (2019) and Eugene (2022) and fourth in Budapest.
The three athletes will compete on Saturday 16 at the Hayward Field stadium in Eugene, which hosted the World Athletics Championships last year.
The winners of the 32 events (16 each for men and women) will be proclaimed champion of the 2023 Diamond League.
