Havana, Aug 17 (ACN) The Cuban men's basketball team will play today against Argentina in the 2023 Olympic Pre-qualifying Tournaments America, held in the cities pf La Banda and Santiago del Estero.
Both teams lost their previous games, so the winner will advance to the semifinals and the loser will be eliminated. Cuba and Argentina are in Group A, led by Bahamas, a shoo-in for the next stage after beating the locals 101-89 and the Cubans 109-68.
Team Cuba could do little to harness the Bahamians, whose roster boasts NBA players like Deandre Ayton and Buddy Hield.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Semifinals. The winners will play in the Final for the only available spot to be in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments from July 2-7, 2024.
