HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 12 (ACN) Cuba will seek its second win today—against Nicaragua this time— in the 5th U23 men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup.
After beating Peru in a five-set game Tuesday, the Cubans will try to remain undefeated in this tournament that grants two slots for the 2025 Junior Pan Am Games.
In a press conference after the match against the Peruvians, Cuban coach Jesús Cruz said, “We always have problems in the first game, but we never thought it would get complicated and extend to five sets. Peru strived to win with great fighting spirit.”
Team Cuba will be opposite Chile tomorrow and the Dominican Republic on Saturday.
In the 2018 Games, the Cubans won the title, followed by the Mexicans and the now absent Guatemalans.
