HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 3 (ACN) The Cuban men's 70-meter (m) recurve archery team will dispute the bronze medals today, in the second day of archery at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.
Hugo Franco, Javier Alejandro Vega and Juan Jose Santisteban could not advance to the discussion of the title after falling 0-6 against Colombia, so they will dispute the third place against the Venezuelans.
Before that performance, Cuba's players had defeated the local Salvadorans 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
Among the women, Yailin Paredes, Maydenia Sarduy and Liduveinys Sierra, lost in a close match 4-5 against the Guatemalans, who compete under the Centro Caribe Sport flag.
On Sunday, the 70m mixed recurve archery team, formed by Sarduy and Franco, was eliminated in one of the semifinals 4-5 by Mexicans Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande.
With this result, the Cuban pair will have to compete for the bronze medals on the 6th against the representatives of Puerto Rico; for the gold medal, the duel will be between Mexico and Venezuela.
Also for the Caribbean nation on Sunday, Aismary Breijo and Omar Sabido fell 146-148 against the Panamanians Astrid Barria and Francisco Moreno, in the round of 16 of the mixed compound archery.
