Cuban boxers with three finalists in San Salvador 2023

 HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 27 (ACN) With a surprising performance in the semifinal contest, only three Cuban boxers managed to advance to the title discussion at the Central Caribbean Games in San Salvador.

Five-time world champion and double Olympic champion Julio Cesar La Cruz (92 kgs), as well as Erislandy Alvarez (63.5) and Fernando Arzola (+92), runners-up in the last event in Tashkent, will also climb into the ring tomorrow in search of their titles.

La Cruz will not have to face any difficulty to win by any means against the Colombian Marlon Hurtado.

Meanwhile, the talented Alvarez will meet for the second time this year the Dominican Alexy de La Cruz, world bronze medalist in 2021, whom he already defeated in the last Tashkent event.

Finally, Arzola will have a difficult match against the experienced Colombian Cristian Salcedo, who has participated in the Olympic and world championships.

Cuba attended the regional event with seven men and four of them have already lost, among them the two-time Olympic and world champion Arlen Lopez (80 kgs), one of the main figures of the group.

Today will be the women's semifinal lineup, in which Cuba's Legnis Cala (57 kg), Arianne Imbert Lamote (66 kg) and Yakelin Stornell (75 kg) will compete.
