Cuban pairs for bronze today in beach volleyball at San Salvador 2023

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 27 (ACN) The Cuban duos of Noslen Diaz-Jorge Luis Alayo and Amanda Armenteros-Yenifer Rivera will seek bronze medals today in the beach volleyball tournament of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, after losing in the semifinals.

From the venue, in the sands of Costa del Sol of the Salvadoran capital, Diaz and Alayo fell on Monday in the semis 1-3, against the Mexicans Juan Virgen and Miguel Sanabria, after winning the first set, 23-21, but lost in the second and third and last, 15-21 and 24-26.

The statistics show that the Cubans were better, by the minimum, in attack, 39-38, and by two in blocking (8-6) and service (4-2), but gave up 21 points for their own errors to 15 for their rivals.

Armenteros and Rivera's setback was similar, although they were defeated in two sets, with a 0-2 score (18-21 and 17-21) against Dominicans Bethania Payano and Julieth Payano.

Diaz and Alayo will face Puerto Rico's Kevin Rodriguez and Josue Rivera for the bronze medal, while Armenteros and Rivera will face Mexico's Abril Flores and Atenas Gutierrez.
