Cuban pistol team third in regional Games

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 25 (ACN) The Cuban women’s 10 meter air pistol team won the bronze medal in the 24th Central American and Caribbean Games, held in San Salvador.

Laina Perez, Sheyla Gonzalez and Claudia Hernandez joined forces to score 1,661 points and finish third in a match won by Mexico (1,704 points), followed by Puerto Rico (1,681).

Come Sunday, Perez and Gonzalez could notch up more medals in the individual competition since both qualified for the final of top eight pistol shooters.

Five years ago, in Barranquilla, Mexico won the shooting sports event with 13 gold, eight silver and six bronze medals, whereas Cuba was runner-up (12-10-5) and Guatemala (7-6-11) was third.
