Cuban weightlifting Grand Prix continues with great performances

 HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 16 (ACN) Another podium filled by representatives of the region resulted from the most recent category disputed in the Grand Prix of Weightlifting in Havana, an Olympic qualifier that will conclude on Sunday.

Among women of 76 kilograms (kg) body weight, the US Katherine Vibert won the gold medals in the rebound and biathlon, with records of 137 and 247 kg, respectively, in addition to taking the silver medal in the snatch, with 110.

Ecuador's Bella Paredes triumphed in that exercise with 111 kg, and was runner-up in the repulsion and total (134 and 245), according to the tables officialized by the International Weightlifting Federation.

Completing the Latin American podium was Mexico's Diana García, with three bronze medals, thanks to marks of 97, 131 and 228 kg.

Spain's Lidia Valentin, triple Olympic medalist (gold in London 2012, silver in Beijing 2008 and bronze in Rio 2016), barely weighed in Havana (72.8 kg), simply to become eligible for the ladder towards the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Valentin, 38 years old, joined the qualifying route to his fifth Olympic Games, although she is still recovering from the hip injury she suffered before Tokyo in 2021, where, despite this, she competed.
