Cuba-Puerto Rico today in semifinal of U21 Men NORCECA Pan American Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 9 (ACN) The host Cuban men's team will face Puerto Rico today in the semifinal of the North, Central America and Caribbean (NORCECA) U21 Pan American Volleyball Cup at the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum in Havana.

The undefeated and leaders of section B will face the Puerto Ricans in search of a ticket to the final, a performance that would improve the one achieved in the 2022 edition, when they finished in fourth place, behind the United States, the now absent Mexico, and Canada, in that order.

In the other semifinal match, the US and Canadians will be in action, the latter also without the shadow of the setback and leaders of key A in the group stage.

Cuba advanced directly to the semifinals on Wednesday by defeating the United States 3-2, and Canada did the same with a 3-0 win over the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico and the United States advanced to the semifinals on Thursday with wins over Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, 3-1, respectively.

In the final stretch, the teams that will compete for the bronze and gold medals will be in action, with the losers and winners of the semifinals, respectively.

The current version of the tournament begins the qualification process for the International Volleyball Federation's U21 Men's World Championship 2025, which is a mandatory eligibility requirement for the next phase, the Norceca U21 Men's Continental Championship in 2024.
