Cuba semifinalist in U21 Pan Am Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 7 (ACN) The Cuban men's team beat USA in five sets to close the pool phase of the U21 NORCECA Pan American Cup and went straight to the semifinal stage of the competition held in Havana.

In a duel of until then undefeated teams in Pool B, Team Cuba notched up a victory over the defending champions, for many the favorites of the match and even of the event, but they will have to make do with a place in the quarterfinals.

Behind Cuba in Pool B were USA (2-1), Nicaragua (1-2) and Guatemala (0-3), whereas Canada (3-0) ranked first in Pool A, followed by Puerto Rico (2-1), the Dominican Republic (1-2) and Haiti (0-3).
