Cuban swimmer excels in Barcelona

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, May 18 (ACN) The Cuban swimmer Laurent Estrada finished just two hundredths of a second away from the Cuban national record in the 50-meter backstroke event—held by Andrea Becali with 30.19 seconds—at the second leg of the prestigious Mare Nostrum Swim Tour 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.

The 19-year-old athlete clocked 30.21 seconds, valid to finish 25th among 46 swimmers in an event won by the Czech Simona Kubova with 27.87 seconds.

Estrada also competed in the 100-m freestyle race, for the first time covering the distance in less than 58 seconds (57.88), which is another excellent result.
