HAVANA, Cuba, May 3 (ACN) Come Tuesday 9, Cuba will debut with two judokas in the individual tournament of the World Championships held in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of 670 athletes from 99 countries.
The first Cubans to take to the mats will be Arnaes Odelin (57 kg) and Magdiel Estrada (73 kg), whereas Maylín del Toro (63 kg), Idelannis Gómez (70 kg), Iván Silva (90 kg), Liester Cardona (100 kg), Idalis Ortiz (+78 kg) and Andy Granda (+100 kg) will see action in the following days.
The event will close its doors on Sunday 14 with the mixed team tournament.
Of the eight registered Cuban athletes, Granda boasts the best position in the world ranking—third in his division after winning the gold in Tashkent 2022.
