Cuban Triple Jumper Contests Doha Diamond Meet

 Havana, May 2 (ACN) Cuban triple jumper Lazaro Martinez, world champ at Belgrade’s Indoor Games last year, will compete during the first leg of the Athletics Wanda Diamond League 2023, in Doha, Qatar, next May 5th.

Martinez is the only Cuban athlete confirmed to take part at the opening of the prestigious sports event, according to an information on the WhatsApp Group of Athletics.

The event will be contested by several world and Olympic champs, as well as champions of indoor games like Martinez, who scored 17.24 meters –his best mark- last February in Paris, France.

In Paris, Martinez finished second after Burkina Faso’s Hugues Fabrice Zango (17.43). Hugues took the bronze at Tokyo’s 2020 summer games.
