Cuba with young judo teams to ALBA Games

 HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) Cuba will be present with young men's and women's judo teams at the 5th ALBA Games, a multi-sport event to be held April 21-29 in Caracas, Venezuela.

Amaury Mendive, methodologist of the national commission of this martial art, informed today to the Cuban News Agency (ACN by its Spanish acronym) that the female team is made up of Cheila Averiche Zamora, in the 48 kilograms (kg), Elidiany Martinez Vale (52 kg), Lian Benavides Herrera (57 kg) and Yusmaris Reyes Laffita (63 kg).

Completing the list are Daymarelis Caballero Darroman (70 kg), Lianet Cardona Luna (78 kg) and Dayanara Curbelo Travieso (+78 kg), led by coaches Ismael Borboña and Felix Portuondo.

The men's team is made up of Yonathan Charon Bombazon (60 kg), Maikel Oconor Salazar (66 kg), Hector Lazaro San Roman Chavez (73 kg), Ruben Dario Romero Baez (81 kg) and Seguei Rodriguez Figuera (90 kg).

The other two judocas are Jose Alexis Garcia Garcia Garcia (100 kg) and Jonathan Loynaz Sayut (+100 kg), under the tutelage of coaches Boannys Chang and Antonio Becali.

According to the website of the Games, the judokas will compete on the tatamis of the National Judo Center of the United Nations Park in the Libertador municipality, from the 22nd to the 24th.

It also announces the participation of 3,500 athletes from 11 countries, with the main venue in Caracas (19 sports) and sub-venues in La Guaira (9) and Miranda (9).
