Cuban cyclist Sierra for a top place in Belgian classic race

 HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) Renowned Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra will lead the Movistar Team today in the Belgian classic Ghent-Wevelgem, a 162.5-kilometer race, with seven notable climbs in the second half.

Sierra will lead France's Aude Bianic and Spain's Lourdes Oyarbyde, Alicia Gonzalez, Gloria Rodriguez and Sheyla Gutierrez on the long course.

Sierra, a 30-year-old from from Cuban eastern region, is Movistar's main contender in a field of 236 riders from 24 teams, among them, the best in the world, according to the preliminary start list announced by the organizers on their official website.

With the 16th place among 142 competitors and with the same time as the winner, the Italian multiple world champion Elisa Balsamo (3:19:15 hours), Sierra was the best of the blue team in Ghent-Wevelgem in 2022, in the debut season of the Cuban cyclist in the "Telefonica" squad.

A week ago Sierra stood out again for Movistar, with the fourth place in the Alfredo Binda Trophy, a first category race of the World Tour, where she obtained 220 points for the world ranking.
