Cuba advances to quarterfinals in 2023 ITTF Caribbean Championships

 HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 24 (ACN) Cuba qualified to the quarterfinals of the team tournament of the Caribbean Table Tennis Championship in Guyana, by leading undefeated the preliminary rounds among women and men.

With 4-0 wins over Guyana and 4-0 against Suriname, the Cuban men's team topped Group 2, with four points, followed by their rivals, tied with just one, according to the official results of the International Table Tennis Federation.

In the eight partial games played, the Cubans only lost periods in the penultimate game against Guyana, won 3-2.

Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic lead the first and third keys, respectively, with similar performances to Cuba.

The women also continued with a good pace, leading Group 2, where they defeated the Dominicans and Trinidadians 4-0, while the Puerto Ricans dominated the other section after beating Guyanese and Barbadians 4-0.

Today, the Cuban teams are waiting for the continent's representatives to advance to the quarterfinals, while the teams positioned at the bottom of the standings will face each other to define the elimination rounds.
