HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 28 (acn) The Cuban Angel Fournier is confident that he will win the triple crown in the rowing tournament of the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games, after qualifying to the final of the men´s single sculls event, with a stage in Mandinga Lagoon, in this city.
Fournier, World and Pan American medalist in this modality, debuted in Central American and Caribbean contests with the goal of winning the single, double and quadruple sculls, in all cases with great possibilities.
In this regard, Fournier explained that what happened yester day should not be far from what will happen today in the single and double, because his rivals are well below his individual competitive level.
Havana's Jorge Patterson is his partner in the double sculls, event in which they are also favourites.
About the quadruple sculls –event which demands more connection - the rower said that they have had a satisfactory preparation, with good results in controls.
The four of us are debutants in this kind of competitions, but we are confident of victory, he added.
We have won the three modes in the Pan American Sports Festival held recently also in Mexico and under high altitude conditions, the boat "walked" well, as now in training sessions, he noted.
