Cuban team loses to Mexican Los Mochis at Serie del Caribe Gran Caracas 2023

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 6 (ACN) Cuba's Agricultores de Cuba fell for the third consecutive time to Mexico's Cañeros de Los Mochis (5-6) in the fourth day of the 65 Gran Caracas 2023 Caribbean Series.

At the Simon Bolivar Stadium in La Rinconada, the team led by Cuban manager Carlos Marti showed more of the same and could only hit five hits against four Los Mochis pitchers. Four of those singles came in the second inning, in which, combined with three errors, allowed them to score the five runs.

But from then on, U.S. starter Jeffrey Kinley moved the ball better, the Cuban troop did not know how to get into counts, they attacked very quickly his deliveries and those of the other three untouchable firefighters: Rafael Cordova, Samuel Zazueta and Jake Sanchez, to keep their record immovable.

Agricultores' terrible offensive statistics showed that the fifth and last hit was by Guillermo Aviles in the ninth inning against the fast fielder Jake Sanchez, after 23 of his teammates had been retired in a row in the batter's box.

For Cuba, left-hander Angel Sanchez opened the game with a supersonic performance, which he gave up in the same first act with three runs allowed, after giving up a pair of tickets and giving up two hits, including a two-run homer by Joey Terdoslavich.

After this loss, the Agricultores have a record of one victory (3-1 vs. Gatos Salvajes of Curacao) and three consecutive losses to Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Republic (1-3), Leones de Caracas of Venezuela (3-20) and Cañeros de Los Mochis of Mexico (5-6).
