HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 6 (ACN) Cuban Cecilia Diaz Mesa scored five goals today in the 23-6 victory of the Red Star Belgrade club over Spartak, in the sixth round of the Serbian Water Polo League.
Ana Mamoglu, from Greece, played a great game and scored 11 times, while the Cuban contributed five goals and Serbia's Jovana Radonjić three, Red Star highlighted on its official website.
Led by Dragan Ivković, the team took a four-goal lead in the first period and already at halftime was leading 13-3 on the board.
The pace slowed down in the third part of the game, but in the last eight minutes the red-and-whites came back to attack and thus achieved the resounding victory.
The scores were 6-2, 7-1, 3-2 and 7-1.
Before this match, the Belgrade team was in second place in the standings, consolidating its position on the road to a repeat of the championship match against its great rival, the champion Vojvodina, in the now customary final duel.
