Cuban waterpolo player finishes second in Serbia Cup

 HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) Cuban Cecilia Díaz Mesa’s team Belgrade Red Star was runner-up in the Serbian Waterpolo Cup after losing 12-9 the final game to its "black beast", the powerful Vojvodina of the city of Novi Sad, the only team capable of beating them in the country.

The most outstanding player for the Red Star was the Greek Ana Mamoglu, who scored three times in a game in which Diaz Mesa did notch up no goals, despite the fact that she led her team’s offense during the qualifying stage.

Red Star has won this tournament seven times, the last of them in the 2019-2020 season, when they beat Palilula 9-7 in Tasmajdan.
