Cuban water polo player leads European club's offensive

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 27 (ACN) Cuban Cecilia Diaz Mesa has consolidated herself as the main attacker of the Red Star of Belgrade in the most recent matches, in the achievement of the qualification to the final of the Serbian Cup.

After finishing second in the preliminary tournament in the city of Novi Sad, the red-and-whites will dispute the title this Sunday against the powerful Vojvodina,

After beating Partizan and losing to the home team Vojvodina, Red Star overwhelmed Spartak Subotica 24-3 in the third round.

In that last game, Cecilia Diaz once again stood out, this time with five goals, as did Ana Mamoglu of Greece and Jovana Radonjic of Serbia, top scorers in the challenge, according to the Belgrade team's management on its official website.

The scores were 9-1, 4-0, 5-1 and 6-1.

Red Star, where the Cuban has excelled in recent seasons, has won the Serbian Cup seven times, most recently in the 2019-2020 campaign, when it defeated Palilula 9-7 in Tasmajdan.
