HAVANA, Cba, Jan 27 (ACN) Three-time world boxing champion Lazaro Alvarez, will compete today in his fourth bout in professional circuits against Mexican Sergio "Dandy" Puente.
Alvarez, one of the emblematic stars of the Domadores de Cuba franchise and a specialist in cross punches, will step into the ring in the Mexican city of San Pedro Garza in search of his fourth consecutive success, after sport authorities in Cuba allowed their boxers to fight as hired fighters.
In a fight scheduled for eight rounds, Alvarez will have to show not only his good technical attributes, but also his excellent physical preparation, as his opponent has a lot of experience with 28 wins and 15 defeats.
Among other demanding fights, the Mexican "Dandy" has fought world champions Jhonny Gonzalez and Miguel Roman, which is a good record in his favor.
So far, the Domadores de Cuba have a record of 15 victories and only one setback in their history in the ring for professional boxers. The only defeat was for Yosvany Veitia against Mexico's Daniel "Tubo" Ramirez on December 16.
